A Welcome Note from the Editors:
New England is many things. It is scenic, quaint, historic, and culturally diverse. It is six distinct states that come together as one New England. Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
The region and each state have stories to tell. Stories of the past, present, and future. Those stories make up New England. So with that, we introduce The Nor’easter, a biweekly publication telling those stories.
The Nor’easter won’t focus on what to do, where to stay, and where to eat; instead, the focus will be on the stories behind the people and places.
We will tell the stories of the innkeepers, the seafood shack owners, the people who maintain the trails we explore, and the artists. Anyone who has a story that reflects what New England is.
In short, our goal is to tell the stories of the people, seasons, places, and traditions of New England. Along the way, we want to build a community for those who are New England. For those who feel a deep-rooted connection to New England.
So join us as we journey through New England with each publication of The Nor’easter. Emerse yourself in the words. Study the pictures and videos. Imagine yourself in that location at that moment.
For now, enjoy a brief excerpt and a photo as a sample of The Nor’easter, and please encourage your friends and family who are New England to subscribe!
Sincerely,
The Nor’easter
The Observation Deck - A Moment With Spring

The world can be busy and loud. Schedules, appointments, neighborhood cars driving by. Planes cutting across the sky above.
But in certain moments, New England speaks.
The front porch is still warm after a bright spring day. The neighborhood has gone quiet. The yards and streets are empty.
The wind rustles the freshly budded leaves on the maple tree. A cardinal that you usually scare away with the slam of the front door sits on the bird feeder. The rustling wind is joined by a chorus of birds.
It’s still. For what feels like forever, you are frozen in place. Listening and observing.
A moment later, you step back inside.
Low Tide in the Gloom - Brewster Flats (Brewster, Massachusetts)
A buoy waits. Before long, it will rise.
