Sam and Stavros have been friends for over 20 years and share a love for all things New England, sports, and our thirst to start our own business. The friendship started when Sam tried to teach Stavros how to play football at recess in third grade. Fast forward two decades, and now we have launched two brands together. First, the New England Travel Journal, and now The Nor’easter.

As a native of Connecticut, Sam has been traveling around his home state and New England for as long as he can remember. Among his favorite places are Cape Cod, the White Mountains, and Boston. With that said, Sam is happy anywhere in New England. Additionally, Sam enjoys golf and rooting on the UConn basketball teams and the Red Sox. Sam lives in Connecticut with his wife, two kids, and dog.

Born in the States, but moved to Greece with his family when he was six months old, Stavros spent the majority of his childhood on the islands. Stavros grew up going to the beach almost every warm day in the summer and any other month of the year that allowed it. His father was a recreational spear fisherman who taught Stavros to love fishing from a young age. Stavros can still remember times as a young kid when all of his uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, parents, and brother would go camping on the beach for a weekend. After setting up camp, all the men in the family put on their wetsuits and jumped in the water to spear and net lunch and dinner. Stavros remembers cooking octopus and fish over fire and charcoal and staying up late at night, enjoying the company and the beach.

After moving back to the States, his parents made it a point to try to go to the beach every Sunday in the summer and enjoy some New England seafood. On the days that the weather did not cooperate, we went to our local fish market to buy dinner for our Seafood Extravaganzas. To this day, Stavros is still convinced that his father makes the best stuffed shrimp on this planet.

Aside from the love of seafood and the New England shore, Stavros enjoys playing soccer, golfing with friends, traveling, and enjoying any and all good food.
